Green Squirrel: *Free* Games for Your School
If you follow along with our learning at all, you know that we LOVE gaming. We going to the World Boardgame Championships as a family, we all have account on Boardgame Arena, and we have a HUGE collection of games!
Recently, we stumbled upon something really amazing – FREE GAMES from Green Squirrel Games!!!
We caught up with our Friends from Green Squirrel and here’s what they had to say!
About us
The team behind Green Squirrel Games is positively tiny, but we make up for it with endless
enthusiasm and complete lack of sleep 🙂 Our names are Matthew King and Petya Kapralova and
we have been a couple for 14 years and married for 2. In real life we spend our days sitting in
front of computer screens, doing designs for anything from company logos and branding to
children’s books and illustrations. A couple of years ago we dipped our toes in the board gaming
ocean with our very first Kickstarter campaign for a board game and so the magic began.
About the Project
Green Squirrel Games is all about fun, joy and making the most of the hand we’ve been dealt. At
the beginning of this year we were in the process of creating our second Kickstarter campaign for
a large board game, but then the world changed in ways no one could have expected and we felt
the time was right for a different kind of project. We decided it was time to sit still for a while and
simply see what we can create and share with the world without obligations or expectations. We
set ourselves the task to create 20 free Print & Play games in 60 days and we called it our
‘Lockdown Challenge’. The whole idea was crazy to begin with, but it became more and more
insane as the time progressed and every next idea we had for a game became bigger and better
and more complex. In the end, we finished the 60 days of our Lockdown Challenge with 10
games made, each one better than the last and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of
them.
The real world has now caught up with us once more, but we are still working very hard to create
games and add them to the collection until we reach at least the 20 promised and who knows,
hopefully beyond. This project has been the best thing we have ever done, we have had
incredible responses to our games and our commitment to colourful, fun and free homemade
entertainment and we certainly have a good number of awesome surprises up our sleeves
coming soon 🙂
About the Games
Our full collection of Print & Play games is designed specifically with home printing in mind. We
try to consider the easiest, most cost and time effective as well as most eco friendly ways to
make Print & Play games. Each game has beautiful designs that are specifically considered to be
print light and achieve great results without needing a special printer or even special ink heavy
settings for your home printer. Each game comes with a box that is specifically designed for it as
well as ideas for crafting your game to make it even better, more durable and closer to the real
thing. All you need to make any of our games are 1 to 5 pages of printing, a pair of scissors and
some readily available household items, such as cardboard and glue.
Every game we create has a different art style and type of game play, so there is something for
everyone in our collection. Our specialty is taking real life concepts and complex systems and
distilling them into simple game mechanics. Here are a few of our highlights:
RAM
RAM is the first game we created for this project. It is incredibly simple, light and fun. It only
requires some black and white printing, but it does a great job of training observational skills,
quick pattern recognition and reaction times.

Shepherd Mess
Shepherd Mess is pure joy to create. With just a few printed sheets you will create a whole three
dimensional world with flocks of sheep, beautiful bridges, puddles, stone walls and sheep dogs.
The game mimics the way sheep dogs surround and lead their flocks back to their pens through
landscapes filled with obstacles.

AntiBody
AntiBody is inspired by the beautiful way our immune system works so hard to protect us from
harm. The game mimics the basic response of the body when a foreign element or antigen is
introduced into our system. It is set up as the battle of two invisible armies, illustrated with cute
little characters – the antigens and the antibodies. A fierce battle for the protection of our cells. In
the game, the player who lays the antigens (or the attack strategy) aims to overtake our cells and
produce more antigens for a larger, more powerful army. The player who plays the antibodies (or
the defensive strategy) hunts the antigens and protects the cell from them.

Warehouse Wars
Warehouse Wars brings simple to another level. While the concept of the game can be explained
in a few simple words, the game play is quite another thing. Warehouse Wars is played in three
dimensions, making it very cool to look at and rather difficult to play. It is perfect for training
spatial awareness and steady hands.

Honey Bee
Honey Bee is a wonderful and adorable representation of the inner workings of a bee hive and
the production of the liquid gold that is honey. This worker placement game allows you to assign
tasks to your adorable little bees, such as foraging for nectar, pollinating plants, caring for the
colony and producing honey. The game is simple and easy to make at home, colourful, cute and
a great exploration of the complex and magical world of bees.

Nuts!
Nuts! Is coming very soon to our collection and is so far our favourite creation. The game
explores a squirrel’s annual quest for creating a delicious natural pantry of nutty treats
and its adorably low success rate in rediscovering its own bounty. Let’s see if we can do
any better 🙂 The game has very simple rules – first hide, then find… your nuts. Sounds
easy, but we promise this game will drive you… well Nuts! 😉

So please, hop on over to green Squirrel and support this awesome company!!
